Instant Blogging

Now, I've never actually seen Adam Rickitt perform - partially down to circumstance, partially down to an instinctive rejection of whatever floats spara's boat. But I did catch a glimpse of him in his ill-fated political career, with his "crappy school dinners build character" campaign that failed miserably.

I'm prepared to buy he's a reasonable actor though, so when CJ Mason hands over a disc of an episode of him in Shortland Street, yeah, I'll give it a go.

So, what's the first thing I see, perhaps the closest anyone can get to live-action Ben Chatham?

Him Brian-Blessed-shouting at a chav tied up to a chair:

"I!

HARRASS!

WOMEN!"

...

I am still giggling.

I haven't even got to the opening-titles yet. He's just been run over as well. By a Thai Ladyboy it seems. And he's a gangster. A Triad gangster. Who runs a pub. And gets beaten up by his girlfriends. And accidentally murders people, but can't get lower-class people to take the blame. And even when he gets emo and blubs with the tears of a thousand Radiohead albums, he gets a bag pulled over his head and his kidnapped. In one thirty-second "previously" thing, he gets more plot, characterization and drama than spara has managed in a decade.

...

Oh, god bless us everyone one.
