Red Dwarf X

Hugely impressed by the latest series of Red Dwarf - mind you, Back to Earth left me praying the show was dead, so that kind of quality leap shouldn't have been TOO hard to achieve. And so, I reflect my admiration via the medium of early 1980s bubblegum music. A true expression of my creative genius, I'm sure you'll all agree.

Great video! Never heard the song before.

I loved Red Dwarf X, too. I think they finally hit the right balance between story-telling, jokes, and character building that gave them quite a bit of trouble from Series VII onwards. I was really taken aback by how much I enjoyed it, in fact.

The only episode that seemed a bit off to me was Lemons, I think because the setup was just so weird, but the writing won me over (What with the invention of the hessian bag and Jesus actually being a pretty common name..)

Also very surprised at the writers actually showing a concern for continuity. I never expected the weird fact that Lister is his own father to be brought up again, let alone used well in a storyline.

Thanks. it's "The Young and the Old" by Madness.

As was I. I was amazed when I finished Trojan and had not cringed with embarrassment through the whole thing.

It just struck me Season 7 would have been more interesting had they gone for that angle - imagine the laughs and conflicts from a broody Kochanski and Lister trying to bang his own mum.

But no. We get Duct Soup instead.

So, yeah, RDX rocks.

I thought it sounded like them.

It was very solid. Even the bits that seemed like weak jokes came back such as the joke about hitting a moose in Sweden.

But no. We get Duct Soup instead.

Yeah. That ep was real bad.

I think if you can't make "four comedy character stuck in a room annoying each other" work, you're in trouble.
