Well, there were celebrations, Dimensions in Time, More Than Thirty Years in the TARDIS, lots of special antique road shows and stuff. But if they HAD made The Dark Dimension as intended, it still probably wouldn't have been this good.
Ah yes. Sorry friend, you were one of the very few people I didn't spam with emails of "ZOMG! PMG!!" (and Jared will confirm that I did just that). Suffice it to say, I was less surprised by Enemy of the World being found completely intact.
The amazing thing is not only that it canonizes BF - it's BF fanwank! It's a sequel to Vengeance of Morbius for Cliff's sake, set directly after Mary's Story with even the TARDIS prop covered in Orbis-rust! The Doctor is written and played as post-Dark Eyes and even without the namecheck of companions you'd know this Doctor was post-BF instead of books, comics or even just the TV movie.
And it was awesome. It turns the Eighth Doctor's core MO (saving pretty girls from doomed vessels) and uses it to kill him, then has his regeneration as triumphant - he acknowledges that his pacifist ways are doing more harm than good and instead of moping like a loser he does what he can to fix it. He also gets what is, without doubt, the best last words of any Doctor ever.
I wish I could have done him this justice... but it's not TOO dissimilar to the end he met in my BF spoofs, and certainly follows the same dramatic irony.

Well, to be fair 1993 isn't much of a contest...

...
I hope.
Bloody hell, I hope I haven't jinxed anything.
So... your thoughts on "The Night of the Doctor"?
