Hence, nothing but cold science complexes and dingy warehouses.
Plus it was cheaper and easier to make. They didn't start using 7-parters because they thought the stories needed the space, they did it to spend less on everything.

But, yes, recounting these I have been amazed at some of the good plot ideas. For example, realising that the Pertwee years NEVER HAD a story about a supergenius schoolboy or, even, a story set in a school has blown my mind.
Oddly enough, I noticed that the TV Comic stories are comparable to the new series - School Reunion is set in a school, The Sontaran Stratagem has a deluded boy genius, Bad Wolf has the Doctor on a game show, The Idiot's Lantern has him get a temporary teenage boy companion, Love and Monsters is a flasback story...

Or, stories involving enemy agents instead of mad scientists, as one group is obviously far more likely to endanger an international security organisation than another.
Odd how the only time the Brig suggests it is in Robot, which involves mad scientists...

I think some of these ideas are well worth stealing if the PDAs ever get made again. (Which they won't be so never mind)
Bummer.

Never knew that Terry Thomas was up to play the Brig, either...
Who? ...oh, right. Getcha. The TVComicverse has everyone talk like Terry Thomas. At gunpoint.

Anyway, I've got the TV comics they printed after Season 7 had finished, but I dunno if I'll review them just yet.Youth of Australiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08509521019229324658noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5075740671122268515.post-47551168633631253002008-06-13T23:22:00.000+10:002008-06-13T23:22:00.000+10:00Well, I have to agree with you that in terms of pl...Well, I have to agree with you that in terms of plots they probably are more ahead of Season 7 at hitting home to the audience.. but then for the early UNIT years they were going for that 'gritty' feel that was so popular in the `70s that really is somewhat detached from reality.
